What Is Medicare Part D?
Medicare Part D helps cover prescription drugs. It is offered through private plans approved by Medicare, either as a standalone drug plan alongside Original Medicare or built into many Medicare Advantage plans.
Each plan has its own list of covered drugs (formulary) and pharmacy network, so it is worth checking your prescriptions every year during the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 to December 7). If you go without creditable drug coverage after you first become eligible, a late enrollment penalty may apply.
